Cox Manufacturing has a reputation for machining quality parts from 12L14 Steel. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers.
Steel alloy 12L14 is an extremely popular free-machining alloy (FMA), ideal for parts that require considerable machining and close tolerances. The addition of lead allows 12L14 to be machined very quickly and efficiently, to a smooth finish.
12L14 has the standard machining cost factor of 1.0 that our materials are measured against. It is not ideal for welding due to its high sulfur content. 12L14 will respond to heat treatment, but is not considered case-hardening.
