Cox Manufacturing has a reputation for machining quality parts from 1018 Steel. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers.
Steel alloy 1018 is a general purpose alloy, ideal for parts that require forming and surface hardening. While not as machinable, it is a good choice for parts that require very strong welds and a lower strength than high-carbon alloys. 1018 is available case-hardened only.
1018 has a machining cost factor of 2.4 when compared to steel 12L14. It produces exceptional welds that do not require pre- or post-heating processes. 1018 responds well to case hardening and heat treating.
